The Central Bank of Bahrain has enabled operation of the Real-Time Gross Settlement system during public holidays from 3 October 2025, introducing a daily morning settlement session dedicated to Fawri transactions. This allows customers to send and receive Fawri transfers exceeding BHD 3,000 even during public holidays. The holiday morning session is intended to settle Fawri transactions processed by The Benefit Company (BENEFIT) and supports electronic fund transfers and payments via Fawri being credited to recipients’ accounts by retail banks during public holidays.

Central Bank of Bahrain extends RTGS operations to public holidays to settle Fawri payments above BHD 3,000
The Central Bank of Bahrain has launched a Real-Time Gross Settlement system operational during public holidays, starting 3 October 2025, with a morning session for Fawri transactions. This enables Fawri transfers over BHD 3,000 to be processed even on holidays. The system supports electronic fund transfers and payments credited to recipients' accounts by retail banks.
