The Bank of Italy has been awarded the Central Banking Award 2025 for risk management, recognising its development of new methodologies for assessing financial risks and its enhanced assessment of companies’ creditworthiness incorporating sustainability factors. The award is part of the 12th edition of the Central Banking Awards, which recognise excellence across the central banking community. Governor Fabio Panetta welcomed the award as recognition of the Bank’s prudent, forward-looking risk management and its role in supporting the financial system during crisis periods when other market participants may pursue widespread de-risking.
