South Korea’s Financial Services Commission and Ministry of National Defense are holding a workshop for about 100 military personnel from approximately 20 units under the ministry to support their work as financial education instructors. The workshop, running through Oct. 22, 2026, targets military finance officials and other personnel who are expected to teach financial skills within their units. It follows measures to strengthen military financial education approved by the Financial Education Council on Aug. 31, 2026. Specialist instructors from the Financial Supervisory Service, Korea Inclusive Finance Agency, Credit Counseling and Recovery Service and seven financial industry associations will provide training. Sessions cover asset management for young service members, insurance, retirement planning and investment. They also address financial fraud prevention, practical financial counseling and debt adjustment arrangements. Participants can obtain financial planning advice at counseling booths. The Ministry of National Defense plans to support further training involving financial education institutions across the armed services, including the Marine Corps.
