The National Bank of Moldova held a dialogue event on Moldova’s European Union accession process, featuring former European Commissioner and former Romanian prime minister Dacian Cioloș in discussion with the bank’s management. The event focused on the role of core institutions, including the central bank, in supporting reforms linked to EU integration. Governor Anca Dragu described the National Bank’s involvement as spanning financial stability and confidence in the banking system through to aligning Moldova’s legislation with European Union standards, positioning the central bank as a counterpart in dialogue and negotiations with Brussels. The National Bank also set out its participation in negotiation teams and working groups covering the free movement of capital, financial services and monetary policy, supporting implementation of the Association Agreement and transposition of the EU acquis.
