Total gross external debt rose to USD 200,307 million at end-December 2025, up from USD 193,047 million at end-September 2025 and USD 168,354 million at end-December 2024. General government accounted for USD 98,233 million at end-December 2025, entirely long-term and largely in debt securities (USD 87,938 million). Deposit-taking corporations excluding the central bank reported USD 43,510 million, with the stock predominantly short-term (USD 39,354 million) across loans and currency and deposits. Other components comprised direct investment (USD 23,940 million), public corporations excluding deposit-taking institutions (USD 18,087 million), other sectors (USD 15,768 million), and the central bank (USD 769 million, recorded as short-term currency and deposits).
