The National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic hosted a presentation of a new training manual, “Financial Literacy for Migrants and Members of Their Families”, marking International Migrants Day. Deputy Chair A. Kozubekov linked the Bank’s focus on financial literacy to citizens’ financial wellbeing and the country’s financial stability, and noted that financial literacy remains a sensitive issue for migrants and their families. The manual was developed with support from the International Organization for Migration’s office in Kyrgyzstan under the “Labour Migration Programme – Central Asia” project and includes specialised financial literacy modules for citizens leaving abroad for work. It covers key financial literacy topics and is designed to reflect the specific needs of labour migrants and their family members; the event also brought together representatives from relevant government bodies, international organisations, the Swiss Embassy, the Union of Banks of Kyrgyzstan and the media.
