The Bank of Italy has made available the report “Survey on ICT in the Italian banking sector – Financial and organizational profiles, FY 2024” via the CIPA (Interbank Convention for Automation) website, providing an annual snapshot of banks’ Information and Communication Technology financial, organizational and technological profiles. Conducted by CIPA and the Italian Banking Association, the survey analyses ICT trends and the distribution and purpose of ICT costs and investments, banks’ and banking groups’ sourcing models, technological innovation initiatives, and the composition and training of ICT staff. New elements in this edition include observations on public cloud adoption, financial impact forecasts, and opportunities linked to the introduction of a digital euro alongside investment in technological innovation. The survey covered 23 banking groups, representing 92% of Italian banking groups by total assets, and 32 banks; an English version is expected to be made available soon.
