The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission’s Division of Economic and Risk Analysis published updated statistics and interactive data visualizations on key segments of the U.S. capital markets. The update adds three new asset-backed securities issuance visualizations, one new municipal advisor visualization, and additional historical statistics for asset-backed securities and commercial mortgage-backed securities issuance. It also shows year-over-year growth in first-quarter 2026 equity issuance activity, with 99 initial public offerings raising more than USD 22 billion and 264 follow-on registered offerings raising more than USD 44.2 billion. Compared with the first quarter of 2025, IPO volume rose from 84 deals and proceeds increased from more than USD 11.8 billion, an increase of about 86%. Follow-on registered offerings increased from 250 deals raising more than USD 40.4 billion. The broader statistics package also covers corporate bond offerings, Regulation D offerings, reporting issuers, transfer agents, security-based swap dealers, nationally recognized statistical rating organizations, and other market segments, with the information presented through time series charts, pie charts and heat maps.
