The Central Bank of the Philippines supported Borongan City’s adoption of the Paleng-QR Ph Plus program, launched at the city transport terminal on 19 March 2025, to promote the use of QR Ph for payments in markets, public transportation, and other businesses. Borongan City was described as the first local government unit in Eastern Samar and the first city in Region VIII to roll out the program. The launch was led by Borongan 1st Councilor Victor Franco, representing Mayor Jose Ivan Dayan C. Agda, alongside Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas Tacloban Area Director Victorio-III M. Tingcang, and included a live demonstration of an e-payment to a market stall vendor. Banks and other financial service providers assisted attendees in opening bank or e-wallet accounts for QR Ph transactions, while the central bank also conducted a Piso Caravan to exchange dirty and mutilated notes for new bills or e-wallet credits.

The Central Bank of the Philippines supported Borongan City in launching the Paleng-QR Ph Plus program to enhance QR Ph payment usage in markets and public transport. The initiative, led by local officials and the central bank, included demonstrations and assistance in setting up bank or e-wallet accounts. A Piso Caravan was also conducted to exchange old notes for new bills or e-wallet credits.
