The National Bank of Moldova published its monthly aggregated data on licensed banks’ foreign-currency assets and liabilities and the banking system’s open foreign exchange position. For July 2025, end-month total foreign-currency assets were MDL 51,063,286,375 and foreign-currency liabilities were MDL 50,889,945,367; total regulatory capital was MDL 23,695,397,498. The release breaks down assets and liabilities into on-balance-sheet items, off-balance-sheet conditional items, and Moldovan leu items linked to foreign-currency exchange rates, drawing on banks’ open FX position reports submitted under the Regulation on the bank’s open foreign exchange position. Open positions are shown separately for the most traded currencies (EUR, USD, Russian rouble and Romanian leu) and for other currencies; at end-month, long positions totalled MDL 356,536,776 (including EUR 321,984,702) and short positions totalled MDL -183,196,096 (including EUR -78,965,505 and USD -86,493,506). The National Bank of Moldova noted that the aggregated series is published monthly by the last day of the month following the reporting month.
