Bank of Indonesia published its June 2025 Retail Sales Survey, indicating retailers expect the Real Sales Index (RSI) to accelerate to 2.0% year on year in June 2025 to 233.7, alongside milder inflationary pressures over the next three months. The expected June improvement is driven mainly by Automotive Fuel, Spare Parts and Accessories, and Clothing, with respondents also forecasting 0.5% month-on-month growth supported by most commodity groups, especially Information and Communication Equipment, Automotive Fuel, and Cultural and Recreational Goods, reflecting seasonal factors including school holidays, Eid-ul-Adha, and mid-season sales. For May 2025, the survey reports RSI growth accelerated to 1.9% year on year (232.4) after a 0.3% year-on-year contraction in April, while the month-on-month decline narrowed to 1.3% from 5.1%, linked to demand during collective leave for Vesak and the Ascension of Jesus Christ. Price expectations eased for August 2025, with the Price Expectations Index falling to 139.6 from 141.9, but were higher for November 2025, with the index rising to 151.3 from 144.5.
