The Bank of Tanzania has designated eight institutions as Market Makers in the Electronic Matching System (EMS) following the issuance of the Guidelines on the Electronic Matching System, 2026. The designation applies to EMS participants in the Interbank Foreign Exchange Market and is intended to support liquidity, orderly market conduct, and efficient price discovery. The appointed institutions are ABSA Bank Tanzania Limited, Citibank Tanzania Limited, CRDB Bank Plc, Exim Bank Tanzania Limited, National Bank of Commerce Limited, NMB Bank Plc, Stanbic Bank Tanzania Limited, and Standard Chartered Bank Tanzania Limited. Market Makers are required to continuously post two-way quotes and associated volumes throughout trading hours.
