The National Bank of Serbia published data showing that 168,733 financial services contracts were concluded remotely in the second quarter of 2026, up 25.9% from a year earlier and 4.2 times the level recorded five years earlier. Contracts completed through electronic channels for customers with an existing business relationship increased 40.6% to 129,728, accounting for 76.9% of the total. Contracts using video identification, which applies when a customer first contracts for services from a bank or non-bank payment service provider, fell 6.5% to 39,005 and represented 23.1% of remote contracts. Loan contracts rose 82.3% to 83,760, overdraft contracts increased 30.6% to 26,908 and contracts for other services more than doubled to 3,993. Savings contracts declined 3.2% to 20,233, while contracts to open payment accounts fell 24.5% to 33,240.
