Ethiopia's Ministry of Finance reported that Finance Minister Ahmed Shide met U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau to discuss Ethiopia’s macroeconomic reform programme, investment opportunities and bilateral economic cooperation. The Ethiopian delegation, which included Planning and Development Minister Fitsum Assefa and National Bank of Ethiopia Governor Eyob Tekalign, provided an update on reform implementation and described an improving economic outlook and investment climate. The meeting also covered U.S. support for Ethiopia’s health sector and broader development support through multilateral financial institutions, as well as Ethiopia’s New International Airport Project, with Ethiopia encouraging participation by U.S. financial institutions and contractors; the U.S. side signalled interest in expanding U.S. business engagement and investment.
