The National Bank of Moldova published its monthly aggregated dataset on licensed banks’ foreign currency assets and liabilities and the banking system’s open foreign exchange position as at end-April 2025, including the related open-position-to-capital ratios. At end-month, total foreign currency assets stood at MDL 50,809,555,120 and total foreign currency liabilities at MDL 50,367,410,128, covering on-balance-sheet items, off-balance-sheet conditional items and Moldovan leu positions indexed to foreign currencies. Aggregate long open FX positions totalled MDL 543,388,600, mainly in EUR (MDL 425,689,858) and USD (MDL 93,509,063), while aggregate short positions totalled MDL 101,243,933, largely in USD (MDL 70,901,978) and EUR (MDL 17,482,402). Total regulatory capital was MDL 21,759,402,582; reported ratios included 1.96% for long EUR and -0.33% for short USD.
