The Tanzania Insurance Regulatory Authority provided an update on its continued collaboration with BAKWATA to develop the Mufti Bima Fund, which aims to help Tanzanians, particularly those in need, obtain health insurance and financial protection against medical costs. The initiative was discussed at an Oct. 6 meeting with Tanzania’s Chief Mufti, Sheikh Abubakary Zubeiry bin Ally, during the Tanzania Health Summit Expo in Dar es Salaam, following the fund’s launch in May. The authority and the Chief Mufti also emphasized public education to improve understanding of health insurance and its role in protecting households from treatment costs and other health-related financial pressures.
