The Bank of Cape Verde reported on its participation in a joint session of two African Union specialized technical committees in Abidjan from July 20 to 24, 2026. Governor Óscar Santos and Board Adviser Rilde Fernandes contributed to discussions on financing African industrialization, macroeconomic and financial stability, economic integration and the African financial architecture. The session covered domestic resource mobilization, capital markets, debt sustainability and implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area. Participants also discussed the Pan-African Payment and Settlement System, payment system integration, regional value chains and the effects of external shocks, including the Middle East crisis, on African economies.
