The National Bank of Moldova published provisional first-quarter 2026 data on the Republic of Moldova’s gross external debt, showing the stock at EUR 10,520.6 million as of March 31, 2026. That was up 4.1 percent from the start of the year and equivalent to 58.0 percent of GDP, an increase of 1.9 percentage points from Dec. 31, 2025. Public external debt accounted for 43.2 percent of the total, reaching EUR 4,545.1 million, up 5.4 percent from the end of 2025. Private external debt made up the remaining 56.8 percent, totaling EUR 5,975.5 million, an increase of 3.0 percent over the same period.
