Egypt’s Financial Regulatory Authority reported that Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly renewed Hamdy Badawy’s appointment as assistant to the authority’s chair for one year. The same decision renewed Mohamed Abdel Aziz and Mahmoud Gibril’s appointments as assistant chairs for the same period. Badawy has served as assistant chair since February 2026 and is a member of the National Coordinating Committee for Combating Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing. At the authority, he has overseen its central anti-money laundering and counterterrorist financing function and the supervision of insurance professionals, drawing on more than 26 years of security and legal experience focused on financial and economic crime.
