The Italian Institute for Insurance Supervision (IVASS) issued a warning to policyholders and beneficiaries of FWU Life Insurance Lux S.A. after being informed that new investment opportunities, including investments in gold, are being offered as a way to limit losses. The alert follows an earlier warning from Luxembourg’s Commissariat aux Assurances (CAA) on 17 March that individuals or companies could contact FWU policyholders or their entitled parties with proposals linked to the liquidation of FWU Life Insurance Lux S.A., which IVASS also published on its website. IVASS advised recipients to treat such proposals with particular caution, verify the legitimacy of the parties making the offers, and ensure any proposal is in the contacted person’s interest; in case of doubts, it suggested contacting consumer associations.
