The Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority (FINMA) announced that Birgit Rutishauser will leave the authority on 30 April 2025, stepping down as Deputy CEO and Head of the Insurance division to pursue a new career outside FINMA. Rutishauser joined FINMA in June 2016 and initially led the Risk Management section in the Insurance division, with responsibility for supervising qualitative and quantitative risk management at supervised insurance companies. She was appointed Head of the Insurance division and a member of FINMA’s Executive Board in mid-September 2018, and became Deputy CEO on 1 June 2019. The release highlights her role in implementing revisions to the Insurance Supervision Act (ISA) and the Insurance Supervision Ordinance (ISO), and notes that she served as CEO ad interim from 1 October 2023 to 31 March 2024.
