The European Banking Authority announced that the European Parliament has confirmed Thomas Gstädtner as its new executive director following a plenary vote. He will take up his duties in the next few weeks for a five-year term, which may be renewed once. Gstädtner was selected by the EBA Board of Supervisors from a shortlist produced through an open selection procedure. As executive director, he will oversee the authority’s day-to-day management and operations, drawing on his experience in European banking supervision and financial regulation.
