The Angola Capital Markets Commission participated in the IV Angolan Corporate Governance Congress in Luanda, where its Board Chair Elmer Serrão used his opening remarks to frame corporate governance as central to capital market credibility and investor protection, pointing to transparency, accountability and corporate responsibility as core building blocks for trust in the financial system. Serrão also stressed the need to strengthen the role of management and oversight bodies, update the corporate governance best-practices guide, and reinforce internal control and compliance mechanisms. The congress, organised by the Angolan Corporate Governance Association under a theme focused on governance of listed issuers, discussed transparency in issuing companies, the role of institutional investors and the mitigation of conflicts of interest.
