The Tanzania Insurance Regulatory Authority (TIRA) published an announcement supporting the launch and annual meeting of the International Association of Special Investigation Units (IASIU) Tanzania branch, an initiative focused on strengthening coordination and skills to combat insurance fraud in Tanzania. The event is scheduled for 14 to 16 May 2025 at the PAPU Building in Arusha and will feature keynote speeches, panel discussions, workshops and networking sessions. It is intended to bring together public and private institutions, security and law enforcement bodies, and stakeholders from the insurance sector and the wider financial system to discuss topics including the state and outlook of insurance fraud in Tanzania and Africa, emerging threats and challenges, the role of supervisors, investigative fundamentals, and detecting insurance fraud in the banking sector. The guest of honour is expected to be the President of Zanzibar and Chairman of the Revolutionary Council, Dr Hussein Ali Mwinyi, alongside senior officials including the Minister of Finance Dr Mwigulu Nchemba, the Minister for Constitutional and Legal Affairs Dr Damas Ndumbaro, and the Inspector General of Police Camillus Wambura. TIRA’s participation is expected to include the Insurance Commissioner Dr Baghayo Saqware and Deputy Insurance Commissioner Ms Khadija Said.
