The Financial Conduct Authority has charged Shaun Lawrence with operating as a mortgage broker without authorisation, alleging that he continued to provide mortgage broking services after being banned from working in financial services. The case relates to activity the FCA says amounted to arranging regulated mortgage contracts without FCA authorisation. Mr Lawrence, who also goes by Shaun Lawrence-Bright and Shaun Bright, had previously been authorised to give mortgage advice. In 2008, his permissions were revoked, he was fined, and he was banned from financial services. The FCA alleges that he breached section 19 of the Financial Services and Markets Act by carrying on the regulated activity specified in article 25A of the Regulated Activities Order. Mr Lawrence is scheduled to appear before Hull Magistrates' Court on 2 July 2026.
