The Austrian Financial Market Authority (FMA), in cooperation with Wiener Börse, has published a new edition of its “Let’s talk about money” series focused on buying shares for the first time, warning that practical order details can materially affect trading outcomes. Building on an FMA analysis of investment behaviour across age groups, the guidance targets younger investors who predominantly invest online without investment advice (“execution only”). It sets out seven steps covering selection of the security, choice of trading venue, whether to use a market or limit order, and considerations such as fees and the order’s validity period, and is available to download from the programme website.
