The Brazilian Superintendence of Private Insurance (SUSEP) reminded firms that mutualistic property protection associations that were operating without the authority’s authorisation must complete mandatory registration by 15 July 2025 under the regularisation framework introduced by Complementary Law No. 213 of 2025. The requirement applies to entities that, at the time the law was published, carried out activities providing protection against property risks, personal risks or other risks without SUSEP authorisation. The registration system has been available since April and more than 1,300 associations have registered so far. Associations that fail to register by the legal deadline may face administrative, civil and criminal liability.
