The Central Bank of the Republic of Azerbaijan held the opening ceremony on 3 April 2026 for its “Support programme for the development of economic journalism” at the Azerbaijan University of Languages, targeting students in the university’s International Journalism specialism. The initiative is positioned as training to strengthen young journalists’ economics and finance knowledge and support their professional preparation. The programme introduced participants to the central bank’s official online resources and digital platforms aimed at improving financial literacy. The first session, delivered by Tarana Alirzayeva, Head of the Monetary Policy Accountability Department, covered macroeconomics fundamentals and their application in journalism, including monetary policy objectives and instruments, principles of macroeconomic forecasting, and modern approaches to central bank communications. Further training sessions on various topics are planned under the programme and will be delivered by central bank representatives.
