Portugal’s Insurance and Pension Funds Supervisory Authority (ASF) announced that it has formalised a cooperation protocol with the Macau Monetary Authority (AMCM) to support the training of technical staff from the Association of Portuguese-Speaking Insurance Supervisors (ASEL), including plans to establish an ASEL Advanced Training Centre in Macau. The protocol was signed during the opening ceremony of the conference “Modern International Financial Supervision – Challenges and Responses” in Macau, attended by ASF President Gabriel Bernardino. In his remarks, Bernardino linked the initiative to deeper supervisory cooperation across Portuguese-speaking countries and territories, aimed at enabling systematic sharing of knowledge, experience and regulatory best practices, and at adapting supervisory models and tools to local circumstances to reduce learning costs and avoid previously identified errors. The ceremony also marked the start of the second edition of ASEL’s Advanced Training Programme in Insurance Accounting for Supervisors, scheduled to run from 13 to 16 April at the Macau Financial Training Institute.
