In a parliamentary response, Monetary Authority of Singapore Chairman Gan Kim Yong said full details of Singapore’s proposed profit-related returns tax exemption will be announced at Budget 2027. The measure forms part of the package announced on Aug. 19 to strengthen Singapore’s position as an asset management hub, and MAS is consulting the industry to clarify the proposal and gather feedback. MAS said it monitors developments in competing financial centers, including tax policies, but did not provide a direct comparison with Hong Kong’s planned expansion of tax breaks or quantify the potential effect on fund manager relocations and assets under management. It emphasized that location decisions also depend on access to talent, market opportunities, regulation and the broader operating environment.
