The State Bank of Pakistan has launched its inaugural Research Agenda for 2026-2029, setting out the central bank’s research priorities for an economic environment shaped by technological change, recurring supply shocks, climate change and structural challenges. The agenda is positioned as a roadmap to strengthen the analytical basis for policy formulation and regulatory design, in line with the bank’s statutory objectives and SBP Vision 2028. The program is organized around three core themes: inflation dynamics and monetary policy, financial sector deepening soundness and efficiency, and structural transformation and economic development. Over the next three years, it is intended to address research gaps and support macroeconomic policymaking. The agenda also gives a prominent role to collaboration, with SBP planning to engage academics, policy researchers, government bodies and other external stakeholders in carrying out the research.
