The Brazilian Superintendence of Private Insurance (SUSEP), represented by Director Jessica Bastos, participated in CNseg’s event “Brazilian Sustainable Taxonomy: Engagement of the Insurance Sector”, setting out the insurance sector’s role in advancing the sustainability agenda and reflecting on SUSEP-led work underpinning product classification as sustainable. During the 28 January 2025 panel, alongside representatives from CNseg and the United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEP-FI), Bastos argued that insurance can go beyond covering losses by helping induce good practices and supporting risk monitoring and management. She also presented results from a SUSEP-coordinated 2024 working group on “Insurance and Ecological Transformation” and linked its discussions to the publication of CNSP Resolution No. 473 of 2024 on the classification of insurance and open supplementary pension plans as sustainable. A full recording of the event is available on CNseg’s YouTube channel.
