The Central Bank of Kuwait published its Financial Stability Report for 2024, the 13th edition of its annual series, presenting updated data and statistics on the Kuwaiti banking and financial sector and an assessment of key developments affecting financial stability. The report indicates that, despite geopolitical tensions and economic uncertainty, local banking sector financial soundness indicators continued to show strength across asset quality, capital adequacy, liquidity, and profitability. Structured in five chapters, the report reviews global and domestic economic developments, assesses the local financial system and banking sector developments, and analyses key risks including market, credit, liquidity, and operational risks. It also covers banking sector profitability and solvency and includes a chapter on the domestic payment ecosystem, alongside thematic boxes on the Kuwait Overnight Interest Average (KONIA) index and the impact of Basel III capital adequacy implementation on the local banking sector over the past ten years.
