The National Bank of the Republic of Tajikistan’s Financial Monitoring Department held a concluding training workshop from 17 to 19 December in its regional branch in Kulob focused on anti-money laundering, counter-terrorist financing and counter-proliferation financing (AML/CFT/CPF). The programme aimed to strengthen the professional skills of staff at credit financial organisations and reinforce implementation of Tajik legal requirements and international standards, including those of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF). More than 30 representatives from regional credit financial organisations and the central bank’s regional office attended. The agenda covered the functioning of Tajikistan’s national AML/CFT/CPF system, recent legislative amendments, measures to prevent money laundering, practical case studies, and approaches to identifying suspicious transactions, including scenarios involving the recruitment of citizens into illegal financial activity. The Financial Monitoring Department indicated it will continue running such training for public authorities and the private sector as part of preparation for the third round of mutual evaluation of Tajikistan’s AML/CFT/CPF system in 2026–2027.
