The Bank of Albania’s Supervisory Council approved the Bank’s Medium-Term Development Strategy for 2026–2028 and adopted the Bank’s budget for 2026, together with a medium-term indicative budget for 2027–2028, to align resourcing with the institution’s planned objectives. The Strategy sets institutional objectives for 2026–2028 and provides the framework for the medium-term indicative budget, aiming to respond to environmental challenges, strengthen internal cooperation, support efficient resource use, and enhance public transparency and accountability. It covers the Bank’s core functions including monetary policy, foreign exchange reserves management, banking supervision and macroprudential policy, as well as currency issuance, payment systems, research, statistics, and support services such as human resources, internal audit, accounting, and information technology. Implementation is to be reported regularly through the Bank’s annual reports. The approved budgets were drafted with regard to international financial market conditions and domestic economic and financial developments, and are intended to strengthen the monetary policy and operational framework, build professional capacity, ensure the supply and processing of high-quality banknotes, improve public communication and transparency, and fund investments in technology, security, and the Bank’s premises.
