The U.S. Senate Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs released a statement from Senator Elizabeth Warren, the committee’s Ranking Member, responding to a second court ruling that found the Trump Administration illegally attempted to shut down the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) by starving it of funds. Warren said the court ordered Russ Vought to request the funding the CFPB needs to carry out its consumer protection role. She also cited the CFPB’s record of returning more than USD 21 billion to Americans and said she will continue to fight to defend the agency.
