The Central Bank of Brunei Darussalam (BDCB) has updated its Alert List, adding “Easy Loan BDCB / Syarikat Loan Fast Trusted and Easy in Brunei Darussalam / Easy Cash BDCB”. The Alert List flags companies and individuals who, based on information available at publication, may be or may have been wrongly perceived as being licensed, authorised or regulated by BDCB, without prejudice to any further assessment of their activities. BDCB reminded the public to deal only with financial institutions licensed by the central bank and to avoid unlicensed providers offering financial services, particularly those showing get-rich-quick or pyramid scheme characteristics. It highlighted that activities such as money changing, money remittance and money lending must be licensed by BDCB, and noted that consumers do not have protection under BDCB’s regulatory framework when dealing with unlicensed or unregulated entities.
