The Uzbekistan Ministry of Economy and Finance held an international scientific and practical conference focused on the digital transformation of public procurement and innovative approaches to improving green public procurement. The discussions centred on modernising and digitising the procurement system to strengthen transparency and efficiency, expanding environmentally sustainable procurement practices, and improving workforce skills and education models for the sector. Participants included representatives of government bodies, academia, international financial institutions and other international organisations. Topics covered the institutional and legal framework for improving public procurement, the introduction of green procurement criteria, development of a national eco-label system, and the use of digital technologies, including artificial intelligence, to increase transparency and efficiency in procurement processes. Conference presentations also highlighted that digital transformation can reduce risks linked to the human factor, curb corruption risks and broaden real-time monitoring, while environmentally based procurement criteria can support both environmental protection and long-term economic efficiency.
