The Bermuda Ministry of Finance, through Premier and Minister of Finance E. David Burt, signed a memorandum of understanding with the United Arab Emirates’ Minister of State for Financial Affairs Mohamed bin Had Al Hussaini to cooperate on public finance management, on the sidelines of the Arab Fiscal Forum at the World Government Summit in Dubai. The cooperation will prioritise Bermuda’s ability to leverage technology already tested and deployed by the UAE to strengthen how the Ministry of Finance uses data to support macroeconomic and fiscal policy. Other areas identified for collaboration include budgetary systems, sustainable finance and capital markets, alongside broader discussion on digital transformation in public finance and the scope for artificial intelligence. The parties plan to begin technical discussions after the World Government Summit concludes, with a view to holding an inaugural meeting in Q3 2026.
