The Egypt Financial Regulatory Authority published its latest Q4 2024 report showing that total financing provided through entities under its supervision across capital market activities and non-banking financial activities reached EGP 299bn. The update also includes indicators for the movable collateral registry and quarterly results for the insurance sector. The EGP 299bn total comprised equity issuances of EGP 148.3bn, non-equity securities issuances of EGP 32.3bn, financial leasing contracts of EGP 36.5bn, micro, small and medium enterprise finance of EGP 28.1bn, consumer finance of EGP 19.4bn, discounted paper of EGP 26.6bn and mortgage finance of EGP 7.7bn. The report also recorded EGP 3.1tn of registrations on movable assets in the movable collateral registry by end-Q4 2024 and outstanding MSME finance balances of EGP 80.5bn at end-Q4 2024. For insurance in Q4 2024, total premiums collected were EGP 25.7bn, split between property and liability insurance at EGP 14.4bn and life and savings at EGP 11.3bn. Claims paid totalled EGP 13.4bn, comprising EGP 6.4bn for property and liability and EGP 6.9bn for life and savings, while new investments by private insurance funds were reported at EGP 6.7bn.
