The Egypt Financial Regulatory Authority announced that its chair, Mohamed Farid, is participating in the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) annual meeting in Doha from 12 to 16 May in his capacities as IOSCO vice-chair and chair of IOSCO’s Growth and Emerging Markets Committee (GEMC). The programme will focus on policy priorities for developing capital markets, including sustainable finance, fintech, capacity building, financial stability, and retail investor protection. Farid is scheduled to take part in IOSCO’s Board meeting, the Presidents Committee meeting, the Africa and Middle East Regional Committee (AMERC) meeting, and the GEMC meeting, and to chair the GEMC Network focused on adopting international sustainability standards. The agenda also includes discussions linked to oversight of the enhanced IOSCO Multilateral Memorandum of Understanding, a ceremony marking additional regulators joining the enhanced MMoU, and an IOSCO-OECD roundtable on empowering and protecting retail investors, alongside the public annual conference hosted by the Qatar Financial Markets Authority.
