The Central Bank of Egypt published its March 2026 inflation statement, reporting higher year-on-year readings for both headline and core inflation. Headline consumer price inflation for urban areas rose to 15.2% year on year, while core inflation increased to 14.0%. The monthly change in the urban headline consumer price index, announced by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics, was 3.2% in March 2026, compared with 2.8% in February 2026 and 1.6% in March 2025. Core inflation, compiled by the Central Bank of Egypt, recorded a monthly rate of 2.0% in March 2026, compared with 3.0% in February 2026 and 0.9% in March 2025. The Central Bank of Egypt indicated that the monthly inflation analysis will be published on 15 April 2026.
