The Central Bank of Egypt hosted a high-level delegation from the Central Bank of Iraq, led by its Deputy Governor, to exchange expertise and discuss areas for joint cooperation across central banking operations. The programme showcased the Central Bank of Egypt’s work in banking supervision, financial inclusion, FinTech, payment systems and services, and consumer and competition protection. Briefings covered the national payment scheme Meeza, the Instant Payment Network, the National Card Tokenization Platform, electronic wallets, and the licensing framework for payment service providers. The delegation also received an overview of the Central Bank of Egypt’s FinTech and Innovation Strategy, including its regulatory sandbox, and discussed FinTech talent development, financial inclusion and financial literacy initiatives, MSME support, on-site and off-site supervision and licensing processes, credit risk aggregation, and measures related to anti-fraud practices and AML/CFT.
