In remarks at a book launch, the Monetary Authority of Singapore outlined work by its industry-led Growth Capital Workgroup to strengthen financing for local and overseas businesses across the start-up, growth and pre-IPO stages. Participants from venture capital, private equity, private credit, infrastructure financing and asset management are examining innovative financing solutions, selected regulatory requirements, talent needs and other ecosystem enablers, including measures to improve funding pathways and investor exit options. The remarks also reviewed earlier equities market measures that inform this approach. These included the Global Listing Board, which reduces friction for companies seeking simultaneous listings on Nasdaq and Singapore Exchange using a single prospectus, and the Equity Market Development Programme, whose funding has increased from SGD 5 billion to SGD 6.5 billion and has begun attracting third-party capital alongside MAS funding. The authority did not specify a timeline for decisions arising from the Growth Capital Workgroup.
