The Bank of Korea published June 2026 weighted average interest rates for commercial and specialized banks, showing increases in rates on both new business and outstanding balances. The average rate on new deposits rose 15 basis points from May to 3.08%, while the average rate on new loans increased 12 basis points to 4.31%. Among new loans, the corporate rate rose 14 basis points to 4.27%, driven by a 23-basis-point increase for small and medium-sized enterprises to 4.38%. The household lending rate increased 4 basis points to 4.50%. At end-June, average rates on outstanding deposits and loans were 2.07% and 4.34%, up 4 and 3 basis points, respectively. The June figures are preliminary.
