The Hong Kong Insurance Authority has alerted the public to phishing mobile text messages sent by fraudsters posing as Bowtie Life Insurance Company Limited, an authorised insurer in Hong Kong, in an attempt to obtain personal or payment information. Recipients were instructed to call a suspicious phone number to cancel an alleged transaction related to certain insurance policies. Bowtie has confirmed it has no connection with the messages, and the matter has been reported to the Hong Kong Police Force for investigation; anyone who has shared information or carried out transactions via the fraudsters should contact Bowtie and report the case to the police.
