The Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo’s Governor, Ahmet Ismaili, met Luxembourg’s Ambassador to Kosovo, Eric Dietz, to review developments and reforms in the financial sector and to discuss areas for closer cooperation. The discussions covered progress in the legal and regulatory framework, initiatives to support financial inclusion and access to finance, and financial education, alongside an overview of the central bank’s organisation and mandate. The meeting also highlighted the Central Bank of Luxembourg’s long-standing partnership with the Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo, with a focus on international reserve management and capacity building. Governor Ismaili briefed the Ambassador on Kosovo’s pre-application process for accession to the Single Euro Payments Area with the European Commission and on a project to modernise the payments system, including consideration of how partners could support Kosovo’s inclusion on international payment platforms. The parties agreed to deepen cooperation on internal processes and other financial-sector initiatives within their institutional remits.
