The Insurance Supervision Institute of Mozambique organised the first edition of the Aposte no Seguro (Bet on Insurance) marathon in Maputo, using a 7 km run and walk combined with health and wellbeing activities and insurance-focused financial education to support public awareness of risk protection. More than 250 people took part, including staff from the supervisor, insurers and the Mozambican Athletics Federation, on a route along the Marginal de Maputo. The finish area featured health counselling and biometric checks such as blood pressure and glucose, fitness classes, insurer exhibition spaces, and educational activities on the role and functioning of insurance. Chair Ester dos Santos José framed the event as part of promoting an insurance culture and demystifying insurance as a basic need for households and businesses. Participating insurers received certificates, and the chair called on insurance and pension fund operators to join future editions, indicating the marathon will continue as part of broader financial education efforts.
