Peru's Superintendency of Banking, Insurance and Private Pension Fund Administrators (SBS) issued a public warning that multiple entities are operating in the country informally by taking money from third parties without prior authorisation. The SBS reiterated that anyone seeking to receive funds from the public, whether as deposits, loans or any other form, must obtain SBS authorisation. It listed eight entities that it said are not authorised to take money from the public: Cooperativa de Ahorro y Crédito La Troyca (COOPAC La Troyca), Grupo LYG Inmobiliaria S.A.C. (Capitalex), Finniu S.A.C. (Finniu App), Washington Capital S.A.C. (Washington Capital), MFX Prime S.A.C. (MFX Prime), Finared Perú S.A.C. (Finared), CCO Grupo Empresarial S.A.C. (CCO Inversiones) and Finniu Capital S.A.C. The alert also warned that such entities may claim SBS authorisation and promise high returns, but may fail to pay promised interest or return invested capital. The SBS urged the public to verify where they save or invest and to submit queries or complaints about unauthorised deposit-taking through its reporting channels and website.
