The Asia/Pacific Group on Money Laundering published the outcomes of its 2025 Annual Meeting and Technical Assistance and Training Forum in Tokyo, where members agreed the group’s strategic direction through the Global 5th Round and completed the last round of assessments by adopting the Mutual Evaluation reports for Niue and the Maldives. The meeting also focused on strong leadership in anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing and on how jurisdictions can succeed in the Global 5th Round. Japan led a technical seminar on virtual assets and virtual asset service providers, covering key risks and good practices. Brunei Darussalam was appointed APG Co-Chair for 2026 to 2028 and will host the 2026 Annual Meeting, while BIMSTEC joined as a new observer. The Technical Assistance and Training Forum brought together 24 APG members and 15 donors or providers for 29 meetings, resulting in clearer priorities and new agreements for technical assistance delivery in the coming year.

Brunei Darussalam was appointed Co-Chair for 2026 to 2028 and will host the 2026 meeting, while BIMSTEC joined as a new observer. The related technical assistance forum also produced new agreements on support delivery for the coming year.
